The New England Air Museum houses over 80 aircraft and an extensive collection of engines, instruments, and artifacts in three large display hangars and an outdoor display area. The Museum of Connecticut History is housed in the Supreme Court and Connecticut State Library building.The focus of the Museum and its collections is Connecticut’s government, military and industrial history. Permanent and changing exhibits trace the growth of the State and its role in the development of the nation from the Colonial era to the present.The Museum consists of Memorial Hall and three adjoining exhibit areas. On permanent display are portraits of Connecticut Governors as well as historic documents, including the State’s original 1662 Royal Charter, and the 1818 and 1964 State Constitutions. The 1639 Fundamental Orders have returned and are also on display at the Museum.
Mortensen Riverfront Plaza is the centerpiece of the Riverfront Recapture park system with a stage at the river’s edge and seating for 2,500 people on a grassy terrace. The Mark Twain House is the 25-room Victorian home where legendary author Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain), lived with his family from 1874 to 1891 and wrote his greatest works, including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Recently named one of the Ten Best Historic Homes in the World by National Geographic, the house features interior decor designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany, including elaborate stenciling and carved woodwork. Visit the Billiard Room where Twain did his writing and see the bed carved with angels where he slept. Collections include some 50,000 items belonging to the author and his family.
Tours include the restored kitchen wing and butler’s pantry, allowing visitors to experience the rooms as the Clemens’ servants did. The modern, LEED certified museum center features orientation and changing exhibition galleries, a Ken Burns documentary and The Nook Café, serving sandwiches, salads and other light fare.
The museum store is open during normal museum hours and features Twain memorabilia, gifts for the reader and writer, and a large selection of books by and about Mark Twain. Lectures and special programs offered throughout the year. Join us from late November to January when the house is decorated for a Victorian holiday. Allow two hours for tour of the house and a visit to the museum center. Air conditioned. Free parking.

Fox Building in downtown Hartford is a place for residents, students, hobbyists, aspiring innovators, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs to access the tools, technology, resources and educational opportunities they need to succeed in the state’s manufacturing and technology workforce.
The ten individual workshops we provide are equipped with cutting-edge hardware and software, offering virtual reality equipment and programming to support education-to-career pathways. Our professional and instructional staff are versed in digital fabrication and design processes, making us uniquely suited to provide innovative, outcomes-based programs. We have meaningful collaborations with schools and universities in the STEM disciplines and connect program graduates with local manufacturers.
